Ben Rivers

Since buying the Canon 5D I've been playing with the idea of doing some filming, building up some ideas. I came across Ben Rivers, and experimental film maker/artist at the weekend. Ben has a film on at the BFI this week, and I love his style. He creates beautiful portraits of people, in particular Jake, a lonely soul who lives in the Scottish wilderness. He often shoots on black and white and hand develops his film, giving his films a feel of the early documentary mob from back in the 1930s and 1940s. I love the way that they almost feel like still photographic portraits/documentary essays. Anyway, I thought I'd share with you guys a couple excerpts from 2 of his films; This Is My Land and Origin of the Species.
